RE: II 430(E)--Supplemental Stop for Pedestrian in Crosswalk Sign

Dear Mr. Haider:

Thank you for your January 25 letter to the Office of Transportation Operations, Federal Highway Administration. In your letter, you transmitted additional information in support of your Request to Experiment with a supplementary "Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk" sign in response to our December 18 letter.

We find the additional information acceptable and approve your Request to Experiment with this sign. We will begin the experimental schedule on April 1, 2001. If you are unable to start on that date, please let us know by telephone (or fax at 202-366-3225) so we can adjust the date to reflect the revised schedule. Please note that we are requesting regular progress reports every 6 months, and that the experimental approval will be rescinded if regular reports are not submitted within 45 days following each 6 month period. Finally, a copy of the final results is due to HOTO-1 within 3 months following completion of the experiment.

Good luck with the project. We look forward to the results and the promise of a new traffic control device that will improve the mobility and safety of our roads. If you have questions, please call Mr. Ernest Huckaby at 202-366-9064.

Sincerely yours,

Shelley J. Row, P.E.
