Dear Mr. Smith:

Thank you for your July 28 electronic request for permission to experiment with lane use signs at signalized intersections where dual left turn movements turn into three or more receiving lanes in Anchorage, Alaska.

Your experimentation work plan has been reviewed and found to be consistent with the guidelines detailed in Section 1 A. 10 of the MUTCD. Please amend Item F of the work plan to reflect the start and completion dates for the four intersections that will be studied. We have assigned the following official experimentation number to your request: "2-567(E)-Entry/Exit Dual Left Turn Lane Use Signs." Please refer to this number in future correspondence. We look forward to receiving notification of the time period for your experimentation and to receiving your progress and final reports.

If you have questions or wish additional information, please feel free to call Fred Ranck, Safety Engineer, (708) 283-3545 at the Federal Highway Administration's Resource Center in Olympia Fields, Illinois.

Sincerely yours,

Regina S. McElroy
