Dear Ms. Gonzalez:

Thank you for your letter of July 19 to the Office of Transportation Operations, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). In your letter, you requested permission to experiment with "Adding Animated Scanning Eyes to the Walk Sign of a Pedestrian Head" at the intersection of 102nd Avenue, NE., and NE. 8th Street, and the intersection of 108th Avenue, NE., and NE. 4th Street in downtown Bellevue, Washington. You submitted a project proposal for our review.

We have reviewed your request for experimentation and it is hereby approved. You indicated that you plan to install the Animated Scanning Eyes during September of 2000 and finish in a three (3) month period. Please provide the beginning and end dates.

For reference purposes, we have assigned your request the following official experimentation number and title: "IV-140(E)- Animated Scanning Eyes to the Walk Sign of a Pedestrian Head." Please refer to this number in future correspondence.
