Approval to Install Pedestrian Countdown Signal Heads

The City of Ontario and the Holy Rosary Hospital is requesting that Countdown Pedestrian Signals be installed on the Olds Ferry - Ontario Highway at the intersection of SW 4th Avenue at SW 9th Street/Park Boulevard. The pedestrian interval countdown display will be added to each of the pedestrian signal heads at the intersection.

Since the MUTCD Millennium Edition does not allow for the option of using Pedestrian Countdown signal heads, I am seeking your approval for this installation. We are willing to complete an evaluation to assess user response. Should the pending revisions to the MUTCD Millennium Edition include the option to install Pedestrian Countdown signal heads we will limit the scope of our evaluation.

Please let me know if you need more information to consider this request.
