Dear Ms. Row,

Re: Request Approval to Experiment With Pedestrian Countdown Signal Displays

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), Engineering Department in cooperation with the City of Reno, Engineering Division is requesting approval to experiment with pedestrian countdown signal displays at a two intersections near the Citicenter in Reno, Nevada. Citicenter is the downtown bus transfer station for Citifare, the public transit service for the greater Reno/Sparks community, provided by RTC of Washoe County, Nevada.

The pedestrian countdown signal displays will correspond to Section 4E.07 Countdown Pedestrian Signals in the proposed Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Revision No. 2.

Experimentation with the countdown pedestrian signals will be in conformance with Section 1A.10 of the MUTCD and we will evaluate user's response after the countdown displays are installed and users have had a chance to become accustomed to them.

If you should have any question about this request please contact Lew Fry, at 775-335- 1871.

Sincerely, /S/
Lewis J. Fry, P.E.
