Dear Mr. Mozdbar:
Thank you for your email of July 28 requesting various revisions to your approved experiment number 4(09)-9 (E) with a non-standard signal display sequence as a part of an adaptive flashing red arrow (AFRA) operation. We have reviewed the proposed revisions to the experiment, as embodied in your revised experimentation request dated July 2011, and we concur with them.
We also note that you have agreed to comply with the conditions stated in our July 5 letter that originally approved the experiment. Therefore, please consider this letter our approval to proceed with the experiment, as revised, and in conformance with the specific conditions stated in our July 5 letter.
Thank you again for your innovative thinking and your interest in improving signalized intersection capacity. We trust that this experiment will be pursued with very close monitoring of safety and that it will provide useful information.
Sincerely yours,
