City of Canton

Dear Mr. Moeglin:
Thank you for your letter of November 22, 2011, transmitting the City's initial request to experiment (RTE) with bicycle signal heads and two-stage turn queue boxes on Walnut Avenue between 3rd Street SE and 12th Street NE in Canton. The bicycle signal heads will face bicyclists who are travelling northbound in a contraflow bike lane on this otherwise one-way southbound roadway.
Thank you also for your e-mail message of January 19th transmitting the City's revised RTE, which incorporated our review comments regarding the initial RTE.
We have reviewed your revised RTE. Your request for experimentation is approved and we look forward to receiving your semi-annual progress reports and your final evaluation report at the end of the study period.
For recordkeeping purposes, we have assigned the following official experimentation number and title: "9(09)-28 (E) – Bike Signal Heads and Two-Stage Turn Queue Boxes — Canton, OH." Please refer to this number in future correspondence.
Thank you for your interest in improving the operational capability and traffic safety for bicyclists through the use of bike signal heads and two-stage turn queue boxes.
Sincerely yours,
/s/ Mark R. Kehrli
