Standard Highway Signs—PDF and EPS files for New and Revised Signs

The new edition of Standard Highway Signs and Markings is currently in progress. Layouts for new and significantly revised signs in the 2009 MUTCD have been included in the 2012 Supplement to the 2004 Edition of Standard Highway Signs.

Two types of files are available for standard signs:

  1. Full-size, vector-based, undimensioned sign layout in EPS format. Layouts are to actual scale for each standard sign size indicated and can be transmitted directly to an electronic vinyl cutter for fabrication purposes and mounting onto a sign substrate. Please note that sign layouts do not necessarily scale directly from one size to the next, so be certain to use the correct file for the specified sign size.
  2. Full-size, vector-based sign layout in PDF format. This file contains both an undimensioned layout and a working drawing with dimensions displayed in a preliminary format. Please refer to the 2012 Supplement for the final layout using standard dimensioning format.

Both the EPS and PDF files are contained in a ZIP file for each sign. Each ZIP file contains all the available sizes specified in the 2009 MUTCD for a particular standard sign.

Additional files for signs not listed below are not being developed at this time. Development of the electronic files will resume at some future date following the release of the new edition of Standard Highway Signs and Markings.
