Dear Mr. Mitchell:
Thank you for your letter of October 25 transmitting the City's request to experiment (RTE) with bicycle signal heads at three intersections in Denver and with a new pavement marking pattern featuring chevrons for directing bicyclists across an intersection.
We have reviewed your RTE. Your request for experimentation is approved subject to the City's agreement to comply with the following condition:
Please indicate the City's agreement with this condition via an e-mail to Mr. Bruce Friedman of this office at bruce.friedman@dot.gov.
For recordkeeping purposes, we have assigned the following official experimentation number and title: "9(09)-25 (E) – Bike Signal Heads and Chevron Striping — Denver, CO." Please refer to this number in future correspondence.
We look forward to receiving your semi-annual progress reports and your final evaluation report at the end of the study period.
Thank you for your interest in improving the operational capability and traffic safety for bicyclists through the use of bike signal heads and innovative pavement markings.
Sincerely yours,
/s/ Mark R. Kehrli
