2009 Edition Part 2 Figure 2D-12. Example of Minor Interchange Crossroad Signing
Figure 2D-12. Example of Minor Interchange Crossroad Signing
This figure shows an example of minor interchange crossroad signing.
The figure shows segments of an unnamed vertical roadway and a multi-lane horizontal highway, I-25. The interchange between the two is shown as a diamond-shaped ramp configuration. At the top left of the figure, a black capital letter "N" is shown superimposed on a left-pointing horizontal black arrow, denoting the compass direction.
A series of signs are shown for one direction of travel along the vertical roadway from the bottom to the top of the figure. All signs are shown as red and blue Interstate route shields for I-25. They are shown to the right of the roadway.
There are five signs shown on the vertical roadway:
- At the bottom of the figure, the first sign is shown as an Interstate route shield for I-25. Above it, a plaque is shown with the word "JCT" in white letters and a white border on a blue background.
- The second and third signs are shown just prior to the right entrance ramp to the horizontal roadway. They are shown as a sign assembly in a horizontal array. The left sign is shown as a red and blue Interstate route shield for I-25. Above it, a plaque is shown with the word "NORTH" in white letters and a white border on a blue background. Below it, a plaque is shown with an upward-pointing vertical white arrow and a white border on a blue background. The sign on the right is shown as the same I-25 shield and two plaques except the word on the top plaque is shown as "SOUTH" instead of "NORTH" and the arrow on the bottom plaque is shown pointing to the right instead of straight up.
- The fourth sign is shown beyond the crossover of the horizontal roadway in the gore between the roadway and the right exit ramp from the horizontal roadway (which is the upper right branch of the diamond). It is shown as the same I-25 shield and two plaques, except the word on the top plaque is shown as "NORTH" and the arrow on the bottom plaque is shown pointing to the left.
- The fifth sign is shown on the left side of the vertical roadway, just beyond the left entrance ramp to the horizontal roadway. This sign is identical to the fourth sign, except that it is noted as "optional."
