This figure shows seven examples of interchange advance guide signs, exit number plaques, and LEFT plaque.
The figure shows seven signs that are green squares or horizontal rectangles with white letters, symbols, and borders, except where otherwise noted:
- The first sign is shown as a square sign. On the top line, a white U.S. route shield is shown on which the numeral "56" is shown in black. On the second line, the word "Metropolis" is shown, and the word "Utopia" is shown on the third line. On the fourth line, the words "2 MILES" are shown. A smaller horizontal rectangular plaque is shown above the top right side of the sign and is shown with the words "EXIT 44." A note states: "Delete word EXIT(S) if exit number is used."
- The second sign is shown as a square sign. It is shown as identical to the first sign except that the fourth line shows the words "EXITS 2 MILES" instead of "2 MILES" and no plaque is shown above the sign. A note states: "Delete word EXIT(S) if exit number is used."
- The third sign is shown as a square sign. On the top line, a white U.S. route shield is shown on which the numeral "56" is shown in black. The word "Newport" is shown on the middle line, and the words "EXIT 1 MILE" are shown on the bottom line.
- The fourth sign is shown as a horizontal rectangular sign. The words "Lincoln Ave" are shown on the top line, and the words "EXIT 1/2 MILE" are shown on the bottom line.
- E1-5P is shown as a horizontal rectangular plaque with the words "EXITS 33 A-B."
- E1-5aP is shown as a horizontal rectangular yellow plaque with a black border and the word "LEFT" in black.
- E1-5bP is shown as a horizontal rectangular sign with the word "LEFT" in black on a horizontal yellow rectangle on the top line and the words "EXIT 52A" on the bottom line.
