Figure 10D-6. Example of Swing Gates

This figure illustrates an example of swing gates. A legend shows a black arrow indicating the direction of travel.

The figure shows two horizontal light rail transit tracks. Black arrows show the direction of travel on the tracks as right to left for the track at the top of the figure and left to right for the track at the bottom. Horizontal rectangular areas with small horizontal rectangles indicating brick walkways are shown on both sides of the tracks and running parallel to the tracks. A vertical rectangular gray area indicating contrasting pavement color or texture is shown crossing the tracks at a right angle.

Three quarter circles indicating swing doors are shown on each side of the tracks where the track crossing is shown joining the walkways. The swing gates are shown opening away from the tracks. Each swing gate is shown as a dimension of 1.2 m (4 ft) MIN. wide.

Horizontal broken lines indicating fences on both sides of the tracks are shown extending from the outside edges of the track crossing and running parallel to the tracks. The fences are shown as a dimension of 1.1 m (3 ft-7 in) MAX. height. They are shown as a dimensioned distance of 1.9 m (6 ft-3 in) MIN. from a horizontal broken line indicating the centerline of each track.
