Figure 2B-10. Example of Wrong-Way Signing for a Divided Highway with a Median Width of 9 m (30 ft) or Greater

This figure shows an example of wrong-way signing for a divided highway with a median width of 9 meters (30 feet) or greater.

The figure shows a vertical two-lane roadway intersecting a horizontal highway with two eastbound lanes, a median, and two westbound lanes. A legend shows a black arrow indicating the direction of travel in the lanes.

The vertical two-lane roadway is shown with a solid double yellow line dividing the two lanes and solid white stop lines across the approach lane on each side of the intersection with the divided highway. Black arrows show that the direction of travel is two way on the vertical roadway.

The horizontal highway is composed of two through lanes and a left-turn lane in each direction. A solid white line is shown marked on the right edge of each side of the highway. A solid yellow line is shown marked on the left edge of each side of the highway next to the median. A broken white line is shown separating the two eastbound through lanes as well as the two westbound through lanes. The left-turn lane is shown divided from the same direction through lanes by a solid white line and from the median by a solid yellow line. Black arrows show that the direction of travel is one way west to east in the bottom two lanes and east to west in the upper two lanes. Between the eastbound and westbound lanes of the horizontal roadway, the width of the median between the solid yellow edge lines is shown as a dimension of greater than 9 m (30 ft).

Along the eastbound lanes, a Wrong-Way sign is shown at the left end of the eastbound lanes on each side of the highway facing westbound traffic. At the intersection with the vertical roadway, a Do Not Enter sign is shown to the outside of the eastbound right lane and on the median to the left of the left-turn lane. Both signs are shown at a 45-degree angle facing the intersection and west.

Along the westbound lanes, at the intersection with the vertical highway, a Do Not Enter sign is shown to the outside of the westbound right lane and on the median to the left of the left-turn lane. Both signs are shown at a 45-degree angle facing the intersection and east. A Wrong-Way sign is shown at the right end of the westbound lanes on each side of the highway and facing east.
