Figure 6H-18. Lane Closure on Minor Street (TA-18)

This figure illustrates lane closure on a minor street. A legend under the figure states that this is Typical Application 18. A note states "Note: See Tables 6H-2 and 6H-3 for the meaning of the symbols and/or letter codes used in this figure."

This figure shows a vertical two-lane roadway with one lane of traffic in each direction. A downward-pointing black arrow in the left lane and an upward-pointing arrow in the right lane denote the direction of travel. The opposing lanes are shown separated by a broken yellow line. A solid white line is shown to the right of each travel lane.

At the bottom of the figure and to the right of the shoulder of the northbound lane, a black inverted "T" is shown denoting a sign. The sign shown is a diamond-shaped orange sign with a black border and a black symbol of a person digging with a shovel. This sign is shown at a dimensioned distance A in advance of a series of orange squares, denoting channelizing devices. These devices are shown beginning at the right edge of the right lane and tapering to the left of the broken yellow line for a dimensioned distance of 30 m (100 ft) MAX. The devices then are shown running straight along the broken yellow line along a buffer space labeled optional. The buffer space is shown in advance of a work vehicle with a truck-mounted attenuator, both labeled optional. The devices are shown continuing along the broken yellow line past the work vehicle and past the work space, which is beyond the work vehicle. The work space is shown as a vertical rectangular black and white diagonally striped box extending across the entire right lane. The channelizing devices are shown ending at the far end of the work space. At a dimensioned distance A beyond the work space, a diamond-shaped orange sign with a black border and a black symbol of a person digging with a shovel is shown to the right of and facing the oncoming southbound lane.
