2009 Edition Part 2 Figure 2E-16. Guide Signs for a Single-Lane Exit to the Right with a Dropped Lane
Figure 2E-16. Guide Signs for a Single-Lane Exit to the Right with a Dropped Lane
This figure shows guide signs for a single-lane exit to the right with a dropped lane.
The figure shows segments of one direction of a vertical highway labeled U.S. 40 at the bottom of the figure, depicted with three lanes, with the travel direction from the bottom to the top of the figure. At the bottom of the figure, the lanes are separated from each other by broken white lines. The broken white line between the center and right lanes is then shown changing to a dotted wide white lane. Further north, this dotted wide white line is shown changing to a solid wide white line. Near the top of the figure, the left and center lanes (labeled U.S. 40) are shown continuing straight ahead and are shown separated by broken white lines. The right lane (labeled "Ramp to SR 7") is shown continuing straight ahead.
Four horizontal rectangular green signs and sign assemblies with white legends and borders are shown along the highway, as well as two route sign assemblies:
- The first sign assembly is shown near the bottom of the figure where the broken white line between the center and right lanes is shown changing to a dotted white line. It is shown extending over the right lane. It is shown at a dimensioned distance of 1/2 mile in advance of the second sign assembly. It is shown with a white disk containing the numeral "7" in black on the top line, the word "Medford" on the second line, the words "1 MILE" on the third line, and a horizontal rectangular yellow panel with a black border and legend on the bottom line. The word "EXIT" is shown to the left of a short downward-pointing vertical black arrow to the left of the word "ONLY" on the yellow panel. A smaller horizontal rectangular green plaque is shown above the top right side of the sign. It shows the words "EXIT 44."
- Further north, at a dimensioned distance of 1/2 mile in advance of the theoretical gore, the same sign assembly is shown as the first, except the distance is not shown on the third line.
- North of the second sign assembly, the dotted wide white line is shown changing to a solid wide white line. At the theoretical gore, the third sign assembly is shown extending over the right lane. It is shown as the same as the first, except the distance is not shown on the third line and a short diagonal arrow pointing up and to the right is used instead of a downward-pointing arrow.
- A smaller horizontal rectangular sign is shown in the gore between the lane that curves to the right and the lanes that continue straight ahead. It shows the word "EXIT" on the top line and the numeral "44" to the left of a short white diagonal arrow pointing up and to the right on the bottom line.
- At the top of the figure, a sign is shown to the right of the lanes that continue straight. It is shown as a square black sign with a white U.S. route shield on which the black numeral "40" is shown. Above it, a plaque is shown with the word "WEST" in black letters and a black border on a white background.
