Figure 2F-7. Examples of Guide Signs for Alternative Toll and Non-Toll Ramp Connections to a Non-Toll Highway
This figure shows examples of guide signs for alternative toll and non-toll ramp connections to a non-toll highway.
The figure shows a vertical two-direction highway, a horizontal roadway labeled State Route 10, and a vertical roadway labeled Southdale Road. Exit ramps are shown from the vertical highway to these two roadways. A series of ten horizontal rectangular green signs and sign assemblies, all with white borders and legends, are shown along the highway from the bottom to the top of the figure.
At the bottom of the figure, the first sign assembly is shown to the right of the northbound lanes. It shows a black numeral "10" on a white disk on the top line, the word "Edina" on the second line, the word "Hazelwood" on the third line, and the words "2 MILES" on the bottom line. A smaller plaque is shown above the top right of the sign. It shows the words "EXITS 79 A-B."
The second sign is shown further north as an overhead sign over the northbound lanes. It shows a black numeral "10" on a white disk to the left of the word "EXITS" above a horizontal white line that extends the width of the sign. Below the dividing line, the purple Toll Pass logo is shown on the top line to the left of the word "ONLY" in black on a horizontal white rectangle to the left of the numeral "1." On the bottom line, the words "NO TOLL" in black are shown on a horizontal white rectangle to the left of the numeral "1 1/2."
The third sign is shown to the right of the northbound lanes at a dimensioned distance of 800 feet MIN. north of the second sign. On the top line, it shows the word "TO" to the left of a black numeral "10" on a white disk to the left of the word "VIA." The words "Southdale Rd" are shown on the second line. The words "NO TOLL" in black are shown on a horizontal white rectangle on the third line. The words "EXIT 79 B" are shown on the bottom line.
The fourth sign assembly is shown as two signs located laterally adjacent to each other, overhead over the northbound lanes at a dimensioned distance of 800 feet MIN. north of the third sign. The left sign shows the words "Southdale Rd" on the top line and the words "1 MILE" on the bottom line. A smaller plaque is shown above the top right of the sign. It shows the words "EXIT 79 B." The right sign is shown with a purple plaque with a white border at the top of the sign, with a purple Toll Pass logo with a white border to the left of the word "ONLY" in black on a horizontal white rectangle. On the body of the sign, a black numeral "10" on a white disk is shown on the top line, the word "Edina" is shown on the second line, the word "Hazelwood" is shown on the third line, and the words "1/2 MILE" on the bottom line. A smaller plaque is shown above the top right of the sign. It shows the words "EXIT 79 A."
The fifth sign assembly is shown at the point where a right exit ramp for State Route 10 angles away from the vertical highway. It is shown as an overhead sign over the northbound lanes. It shows a purple plaque with a white border at the top of the sign, with a purple EZ Pass logo with a white border to the left of the word "ONLY" in black on a horizontal white rectangle. On the body of the sign, a black numeral "10" on a white disk is shown on the top line, the word "Edina" is shown on the second line, the word "Hazelwood" is shown on the third line, and a short diagonal white arrow pointing up and to the right is shown to the right of the second and third lines of the sign. A smaller plaque is shown above the top right of the sign. It shows the words "EXIT 79 A."
The sixth sign is shown just beyond the gore between the right exit ramp and the right through lane. It is shown as a pole-mounted sign. It is shown as a horizontal rectangular sign with the word "EXIT" on the top line and the numeral "79 A" to the left of a diagonal arrow pointing up and to the right on the bottom line. To the right of this sign, the word "OR" is shown and another sign. This sign is the same as the first option except a purple panel with a white border is added to the top of the sign with a purple Toll Pass logo with a white border is shown above the word "ONLY" in black on a white rectangle.
The seventh sign assembly is shown facing northbound travel between the right exit ramp to State Route 10 and the point where the horizontal State Route 10 crosses under the vertical highway. It shows the word "TO" to the left of a black numeral "10" on a white disk on the top line, the words "Southdale Rd" on the second line, and the words "1/4 MILE" on the bottom line. A smaller plaque is shown above the top right of the sign. It shows the words "EXIT 79 B."
The horizontal State Route 10 is shown north of this sign, followed by a right exit ramp from the vertical highway to Southdale Road. The eighth sign assembly is shown at the point where the right exit ramp angles away from the vertical highway. It is shown as an overhead sign over the northbound lanes. It shows the word "TO" to the left of a black numeral "10" on a white disk to the left of a short diagonal white arrow pointing up and to the right on the top line above the words "Southdale Rd" on the bottom line. A smaller plaque is shown above the top right of the sign. It shows the words "EXIT 79 B."
The ninth sign is shown just beyond the gore between the right exit ramp to Southdale Road and the right through lane. It is shown as a pole-mounted sign. It is shown as a horizontal rectangular sign with the word "EXIT" on the top line and the numeral "79 B" to the left of a diagonal arrow pointing up and to the right on the bottom line.
The tenth sign is shown to the right of the right exit ramp at the intersection of the ramp with Southdale Road. It shows the words "Southdale Rd" on the top line above a horizontal white line that extends the width of the sign. Below this dividing line, a left-pointing horizontal arrow is shown to the left of the word "NORTH," which is to the left of a short vertical white dividing line. To the right of this vertical line, the word "SOUTH" is shown to the left of a right-pointing horizontal arrow. A second horizontal white line is shown below these words, extending the width of the sign. Below this dividing line, the word "TO" is shown to the left of a black numeral "10" on a white disk to the left of a right-pointing horizontal arrow.
