Figure 3B-25. Examples of Elongated Route Shields for Pavement Markings
This figure illustrates five examples of elongated route shields for pavement markings.
The figure shows examples A, B, C, D, and E:
- Example A shows an Interstate Shield on dark or light pavement. It is shown as a red and blue Interstate Route Shield with a white numeral "83" on the shield against a medium gray background. The height of the shield is shown as a dimension of 15 ft, and the width is shown as a dimension of 6 ft.
- Example B shows a U.S. Route Shield on dark pavement. It is shown as a white outline of a U.S. Route Shield with a white numeral "40" on the shield against a dark gray background. The height of the shield is shown as a dimension of 15 ft, and the width is shown as a dimension of 6 ft.
- Example C shows a U.S. Route Shield on light pavement. It is shown as a white U.S. Route Shield with a black numeral "301" on the shield on a black square, which has been elongated. The square is shown against a light gray background. The height of the shield is shown as a dimension of 15 ft, and the width is shown as a dimension that varies.
- Example D shows a State Route Shield on dark pavement.
