2009 Edition Part 9 Figure 9B-1. Sign Placement on Shared-Use Paths
Figure 9B-1. Sign Placement on Shared-Use Paths
This figure illustrates an example of sign placement on shared-use paths.
The figure shows a cross section of a path with a hillside on the left sloping down to the path and a hillside on the right sloping down away from the path. To the left of the path, an overhead sign or other traffic control device is shown, hanging above the path and showing the back of the sign. To the right of the path, a post-mounted sign or other traffic control device is shown, showing the back of the sign.
The near edge of each sign is shown as a dimensioned distance of 2 ft MIN. from each near edge of the shared-use path. The height from the surface of the path in the center to the bottom of the overhead sign is shown as a dimensioned distance of 8 ft MIN. The height from the surface of the path at its nearest edge to the bottom of the post-mounted sign is shown as a dimensioned distance of 4 ft MIN.
